Mission Partners
We supported the following Mission Partners in 2024, prayerfully, financially, and by regular contact with each of them.
Our Mission Partners are:
- The Baxter’s African Children’s School Educational Charitable Trust (international).
- Bridges Nepal, to prevent human trafficking (international).
- Open Doors, who support persecuted Christians across the world (international).
- Christians Against Poverty – supporting those struggling with finances (local).
- Street Pastors in Sutton (local).
We also prayerfully support London City Mission (local)
FOODBANK COLLECTIONS
Our parish supports the Epsom & Ewell Foodbank, part of Trussell—a vital lifeline for those struggling to make ends meet.
We have Foodbank drop-off points at both St Paul’s and St Mary’s, and once a month we hold a collection at St Paul’s. This is consistently well supported, not only by our church family but also by members of the wider community.
Each month, we are blessed to receive a wide range of food and essential goods. These gifts make a small but meaningful difference in the fight against poverty and hunger.
As a parish, we are committed to meeting the needs of all people, and this real and practical support is one way we seek to extend the love of Jesus to those who need it most. Like the Trussell Trust, our vision is for a UK where no one needs a foodbank. Through the continued practical and prayerful support of our church family, this vital ministry remains possible.

Caring for Creation
Eco Church & Our Journey to Sustainability
At Nork with Burgh Heath, we believe that caring for God’s creation is a vital part of our Christian faith. The Bible reminds us that “the earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it” (Psalm 24:1). We are called to look after the world God has made — not only for ourselves, but for our neighbours and for future generations.
This mission is guided by the Fifth Mark of Mission of the Anglican Communion:
“To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.”
Creation care is not just a modern concern — it is an act of worship, justice, and love. As followers of Christ, we seek to honour God through the way we care for the world around us.
Eco Church – Our Bronze Award
We have been recognised with a Bronze Award through the Eco Church scheme, led by A Rocha UK https://arocha.org.uk/. This national initiative helps churches reflect on their care for the environment and take practical steps in response.
At Nork with Burgh Heath, we have taken action in five key areas:

Worship and Teaching: Including God’s creation in our prayers, services, and teaching throughout the year.

Buildings: Making changes to reduce energy use and improve efficiency in our church spaces.

Land: Managing our grounds to encourage biodiversity and support local wildlife.

Community and Global Engagement: Supporting environmental and justice-related causes, both locally and globally.

Lifestyle: Encouraging each other to live thoughtfully and responsibly as stewards of creation.
We are continuing to reflect and grow in this area as we work towards the Silver Award.
Our Commitment to Net Zero
As part of the Church of England’s goal to reach net zero carbon by 2030, we have created a Net Zero Plan to guide our church’s progress.
One significant step has already been taken: We have converted the heating system at St Paul’s Church from Oil Boiler to efficient electric infrared heaters, reducing our carbon emissions and creating a more sustainable environment.
Looking ahead, we plan to convert the heating in our other buildings to electric systems before 2030 as part of our commitment to caring for creation and reducing our environmental footprint.
These actions are part of a wider journey — one we undertake with prayer, thoughtfulness, and shared responsibility.

We believe creation care is a shared mission, and there are many ways to get involved. Whether you’re passionate about wildlife, climate justice, sustainable living, or just want to lend a hand, we welcome your help.
You can take part by:
- Joining our Eco Team
- Helping care for our church gardens and green spaces
- Attending special Creationtide services and events
- Supporting fair trade, ethical choices, and local initiatives
- Suggesting new ideas for how we can do more together
Every small act can contribute to big change.
A Prayer for Creation
Creator God, Thank you for the beauty and wonder of the world you have made. Help us to be good stewards of your creation, to live with compassion, and to act with courage. May our care for the earth reflect our love for You and for our neighbours. Amen.
