Partnering in Generosity
We are a self-funded parish, entirely reliant on the generosity of those who worship here.
Giving helps keep our buildings open, funds the ministry, and blesses our wider community.
Regular Giving
We have a faithful and generous God, and one important part of being a disciple is to honour God with our finances. We are invited to join in with him in sharing his love and building his kingdom in our communities.
The Parish is entirely self-funding and this means it relies on donations. We encourage everyone who attends our church regularly to offer something, however small or large, at a level that is affordable for you. We give what we can, so that God can do immeasurably more.
Your financial giving enables:
- Our ministry to the parish and wider community.
- keeping our doors open and services running.
- keeping the heating and lighting on as needed.
- The maintenance of the grounds and buildings at both our churches.

You can do this in three ways:
GIFT AID
Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that allows charities to claim back 25p for every £1 you donate, at no extra cost to you.
How does it work?
If you are a UK taxpayer, the government will add an extra 25% to your donation. This means:
If you donate £10, your charity receives £12.50
If you donate £40, the charity gets £50
If you donate £100, the total received is £125
It doesn’t cost you anything extra, but it makes a big difference to the church.
Who can use Gift Aid?
To use Gift Aid, you must:
- Pay enough Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year to cover the Gift Aid the charity will claim.
- Complete a Gift Aid declaration (just once, usually via a short form or checkbox when donating online or signing up to the Parish Giving Scheme).
Example: If you give £100 to charity over the year, you must have paid at least £25 in tax that year to cover the Gift Aid.
Higher-Rate Taxpayers
If you pay tax at 40% or 45%, you can also claim back the difference between your rate and the basic 20% through your tax return—either as a refund or a further charitable donation.
Example: A £100 donation becomes £125 with Gift Aid. As a 40% taxpayer, you can claim back up to £25.
How to sign up for Gift Aid
You can Gift Aid your donations by:
Signing up via the Parish Giving Scheme (they manage Gift Aid for us)
Ticking the Gift Aid box on online donation platforms like Give A Little
Completing a paper Gift Aid form, if setting up a Standing Order or making a one-off donation
Once completed, your declaration usually applies to all future donations.
A Few Things to Note
If your tax situation changes, please let us know so we can update your Gift Aid declaration.
If you’re unsure whether you qualify, check with a tax advisor or visit the government website.
LEAVING A LEGACY
It is very important to make a Will in order to ensure that your money and belongings pass on to the people and causes that you care about.
Gifts to charities are exempt from Inheritance Tax, so if your estate is liable to the imposition of this tax, such gifts are very tax efficient. If you would be willing to provide for a gift to The Parish of Nork with Burgh Heath in your Will, you would help ensure the continuing upkeep of our churches into the future. The parish registered charity number is 1180563.
You should always take legal advice before making any decisions. We would be happy to provide some initial help and advice, and you can find more information from the Church of England gifts of faith hope and love booklet.
